Introducing OhAPI Designer — A Native OpenAPI Editor for macOS
We are thrilled to introduce OhAPI Designer, the latest addition to the CoxOne product family. Built from the ground up as a native macOS application, OhAPI Designer is a dedicated editor for OpenAPI 3.0 and 3.1 specifications.
Why OhAPI Designer?
While OhAPI has been helping developers explore and understand OpenAPI specifications, we heard a clear demand: a dedicated, native editing experience that goes beyond what generic text editors can offer. OhAPI Designer fills that gap.
Key Features
- Context-Aware Auto-Completion — Analyzes your cursor position within the OpenAPI schema and suggests only relevant properties and values. Trigger it with Ctrl+Space.
- Inline Validation — Errors appear as red wavy underlines and warnings as amber, with hover tooltips explaining each issue in real time.
- Snippet Templates — 21 built-in templates for common OpenAPI patterns (Info, CRUD operations, Parameters, Schemas, Security, and more) with ghost text preview and Tab navigation through placeholders.
- Visual Operations Panel — Browse all your API operations with color-coded HTTP method badges, tabbed details (Description, Body, Schema, Example), and click-to-navigate.
- $ref Navigation — Cmd+Click on any reference to jump directly to its definition.
- JSON/YAML Conversion — Switch between formats while preserving your specification structure.
- Breadcrumb Navigation — Always know where you are in the document structure.
Built for macOS
OhAPI Designer is a native Swift application built with AppKit. It runs natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, requires macOS 12.0 (Monterey) or later, and is available now on the Mac App Store.
If you already use OhAPI for viewing specifications, OhAPI Designer is the perfect complement for editing them.
